On July 10th, after experiencing shortness of breath while at work, Liz went to urgent care and after a chest x-ray found out that she had a 8cm mass on her right lung. After a series of tests and consultation with additional doctors, she received news that nobody ever wants to hear: she has cancer. Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma to be exact.
And just like that, her world turned upside down.
Liz, who recently started a new job in social work, is now on short-term disability and out of work as she starts a course of chemotherapy: 4 sessions over the next 8 weeks. You can see more about her first session here .
Doctors say that this type of cancer is likely curable - but the road ahead will be hard, and still unknown.
In September, after the first rounds of chemotherapy, Liz will undergo a PET scan to see how the cancer responds and what additional treatments may be needed. In between sessions, it is recommended that she rests and limits physical activity.
Liz's diagnosis has already led to some expenses that are quite costly and not covered by insurance, including the use of cold caps and the purchase of a wig. The financial stress of these expenses are compounded by the fixed income that comes with being on short-term disability.
And, that's where we all come in: any support that you could provide to Liz during this journey would be appreciated. Donations will help offset the cost of:

- Transportation to and from chemotherapy sessions
