TEAM LINDA P.

Mom was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in December. 2 weeks, 3 hospitals, and 3 opinions later, mom’s first chemotherapy treatment at Dana Farber in Boston, began on December 23rd. It was a 6-hour infusion of multiple medicines that she would take into her body every week. It would make her sick but it was the strongest type of medical drug given to people with mom’s condition. Only given to the tough.

10 days later we welcomed our tiniest Team Linda P member when Anna was born. You see when the doctors are ready for mom, the nurse calls out to the room of patients “Linda P.?”. WE ARE team Linda P, and not just her family but all of us who have felt lucky to have her in their life. All of us who know how incredible she is.

Through major ups and downs, changes in medicine, good days and bad, mom finally had success and was able to shrink the tumors by 75% through infusions and a strict regimen of alternative healing methods, and…her unbreakable attitude! Our Doctor told mom that the positive results she was experiencing; he sees in about 1% of patients. Not that you are surprised by that if you know mom. He referred to her as amazing. We’ve all known that for years, Doc! We expected the new call from the nurses to be “Amazing Linda P?”.

Her most recent scans have changed and we are now noticing growth. Though she perseveres in all areas she can control, the medicine that functioned so well has stopped working. Mom has surpassed doctor’s expectations for living, again, not that this would surprise anyone who knows her. Since December mom has been to Dana Farber between 1-5 times a week for multiple treatments and tests. She’s fought hard and she’s had big wins.

Today a different battle begins for mom. Mom is at an abysmal crossroads until new medical treatments or a clinical trial she qualifies for opens up. Yesterday Mom’s Doctor said she was one of the strongest patients he’s had. As her family, we ask for all of you, those who we love, to keep her in your prayers and thoughts, send her all of your good vibes often. Mom and all of us believe in the power of love and positivity. We ARE TEAM Linda P.

We love you and we thank you.
