#TEAMJOSHIE    This Little Guy is the family hero!  My Sisters Family and her Son really need your prayers and donations!  My family and I are asking for prayers for my sister Crystal Gomez, a registered nurse at a local ER trauma center in Visalia California. Her son Joshua (who we now call Joshie) has recently been diagnosed with CPVT. Joshie is a strong 14-year-old young man who is battling this disorder. Joshie is a great big brother, loves boxing, skateboarding, and his family. This vibrant young man is now unable to play sports, skateboard, run, or even walk around the block. He has recently undergone a thoracic surgery (at Stanford), placing a metal rod across his chest due to a recent connective tissue disorder diagnosis. His chest wall was basically putting pressure on his right ventricle, making it difficult for his heart to pump adequately. Crystal and her husband had to purchase cardiac monitors, two AEDs (automated external defibrillator used in cardiac arrest patients), keep one downstairs and one upstairs, and dummy dolls to teach family members how to perform CPR. As we all know, medical insurance does not cover all the costs of supplies, doctor appointments, surgeries, hospital stays, and all of his medications. Crystal and her family have bills that are well over the 300K mark! Our goal is to alleviate some of the family's financial burdens so that they can focus on their son’s health and spend quality time together. We are also making shirts in honor of Joshie and bringing awareness to CPVT. Shirt proceeds will go directly to the Gomez family. As the heart rate increases due to any physical activity or mental stressors (running, walking, going upstairs, or skating boarding), this can induce an abnormally fast heart rate known as ventricular tachycardia. This condition can lead to sudden cardiac arrest, death in children and young adults. Literature suggests that the sudden death in children and young adults without any cardiac abnormalities may stem from CPVT. There is nothing worse than watching your child suffer from a potentially life-threatening event. #FIGHTCPVT
