Help Save George's Life!

Donation protected

This page was created for our dear friend George Rausch who was driving home on route 21 Friday April, 21st on his motorcycle, almost to his exit when a black 4 door sedan hit him from behind at about 80 MPH causing George to fall back on his motorcycle then hitting the guardrail which threw him off his bike and landed in the grass on the other side of guardrail. The driver who hit him took off and left him there to die!

Fortunately a witness saw the car speeding so fast and swerving cutting him off. The witness saw sparks coming from the motorcycle so he stopped his car to try and help George. The witness called for help and stayed with George until it arrived. Thank God for the good people in this world!!

George was rushed to University Hospital in Newark. He was in bad shape when they brought him in, he lost a lot of blood. They had to give him 5 units of blood plus two units of plasma. This horrible accident caused him an open fractured femur (they had to put a steel rod in his leg to repair), shattered pelvis and a broken ankle. The bottom of his foot had to be reattached, injury to his spine and severe leg, hip and lung trauma. George had to have 3 surgeries, over 17 hours combined. It has been a week since the accident and he is still in critical condition in ICU, unable to breath on his own.
George needs many prayers.

No one deserves this especially not George or his beautiful family. George is a wonderful husband, father of 4, son, brother, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend. George is a hard working man, working two jobs and more, a family man, a Lyndhurst Troop 97 Scout Leader and all around great guy who would do anything for anyone. He would give you the shirt off his back. George is a loving, caring, friendly down to earth funny guy with a heart of gold. Through his many volunteer activities, he has dedicated his life to the principals of service to others in his community. He has worked selflessly and tirelessly with all of the organizations he is involved with. You only need to look around the town at projects done with Troop 97 to see his lasting touches. There are many boys that have made memories and learned life lessons only due to his efforts!

He is known to answer the call for someone in need, day or night, rain or shine. We all know he has excused himself from many a family gathering, weekend trip, or vacation to help someone in need. Not to mention all while squeezing in a few extra hours of work to support his family.

George's road to recovery is going to be long. Although he does have insurance; it will not even be covering close to 100 % of his care and long term needs. Additionally, he and his family are facing significant long term loss of income.

George and his family will need all the support that his family and friends can provide to get through this. We realize that many of us are facing our own financial challenges during these tough economic times so please do not feel that any donation is too small. A little help from a lot of us is what will win this battle.

George has proven time and again over the years through his words and deeds that this is what he would do for each and every one of us; so please, let's make this happen for him. Let's help give George and his family their lives back!

Thank you everyone in advance for your support!
