#teamgavin - Get Gavin Home!

Thank you to all who have contributed and participated in the #teamgavin fundraisers so far.  The Barker family greatly appreciates the support!  We have received several requests from those unable to attend the Chick-Fil-A or Ace Hardware event to donate to help support Gavin and his family.  So, we are creating a GoFundMe page to provide this option.  The stress and worry of having a sick child, ensuring he is well cared for, having to rotate schedules and make sure the other children at home are cared for is a huge task.  This GoFund me page is set up to try to ease the burden that comes with the medical bills and other costs that come with a cancer like this one.  We want to be able to give this amazing family one less thing to worry about, if possible.   In mid-February 2018, Gavin's family was devastated with heart breaking news. A checkup for swollen lymph nodes led them to a diagnosis of AML leukemia. In a 24 hour period, they went from a normal family of five with three busy children to preparing as a family to fight this battle with Gavin. The family has a long battle ahead as they stand together with Gavin as he fights and kicks leukemia's butt! Gavin has been at Cook's since he started treatment in February, his family has been rotating parents between the hospital and home to take care of the other children.  The doctors hoped Gavin would be able to come home for a little while before his bone marrow transplant (his brother is a match), but with recent events, he will likely stay at Cook's through the transplant.  The transplant should take place the first week of May (subject to change) and the average hospital stay post-transplant is 30 to 40 days.
