Collin and his family have been living and dealing with the challenges of Collin having malacia. He has been to several visits, surgeries, test and doctors in Boston where the right doctors and resources are to treat this disease.
Collin will have an anterior tracheopexy and an aortopexy on December 8th. Both his trachea and aorta will be sutured to his breast bone. In order to do that, they will have to remove 2/3 to 3/4 of Collin's thymus gland. Collin's doctor said that research shows that much of the immunity this gland produces is very early on in life and that the organ does not appear to be of benefit after birth. The family has mixed feelings about this, but the reality is they need this space to save Collin's life.  He also stated that Collin's most recent scans show that the innominate artery and pulmonary artery are leaning on his trachea and to a greater degree than they thought. His trachea is unusually shaped for this reason. The doctors will be moving both of them off his trachea during surgery.
Any support or prayers that you can help with will elevate the stress of the expenses and continue to let them focus on their sweet family.
We hope that sharing Collin’s story will help the family on the path to his healing. We love this special little boy and his family so much.
