<div>Unfortunately, after many years of being cancer-free, Claire has now been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.

<div>She initially noticed lumps in her armpit, so we returned from PA to NYC, so she could get right to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for diagnosis. Examination via needle biopsies came back malignant.
</div>

<div>A PET scan identified a smattering of malignancies in Claire's lower spine, chest wall, one lung, neck, and base of her skull.
</div>

</div>
<div>A subsequent head MRI showed five tumors in her brain, one of which is large--and pressing on her left temporal lobe. Another medium-sized tumor is pressing on her occipital lobe, and somewhat interfering with her vision. 
</div>

</div>
<div>Claire is scheduled for brain surgery on Wednesday morning to remove the two big tumors--and she's also participating in a wonderful and promising research study to treat and shrink brain tumors with targeted, innovative chemotherapy.
</div>

</div>
<div>Claire is also under the direct care of her original oncologist from 7 years ago, Dr. Gabriella D'Andrea, who is remote managing Claire's care from Basking Ridge, NJ--until a local Manhattan doctor can take over the course of care.
</div>

<div>This is a lot to take in. The doctors are hopeful. This cancer is not curable, but very much treatable. Claire is a FIGHTER, and is resigned to kick Cancer's ass.
