Over 3,000 miles, across 12 states, ascending over 170,000 vertical feet, all under a time limit of 9 days, this is no easy task. The Race across America (RAAM) is the ultimate race of truth, putting riders from all across the globe under the most extreme conditions, in the world's longest time trial.
One Team, One Goal:
Team Bergen-Hill ("Race Against The Machine") is a two man team made up of John Bergen and Derek Hill. John and Derek are accomplished athletes completing in combined total of 29 IronMan competitions (including 4 in Kona at the Ironman World Championships) across the world, as well as logging a combined 1200 hours and 12,000 miles of training time annually to prepare for this prestigious event.
The goal of RAAM 2017? Break the world record for a two-man racing team. But with that comes a tremendous effort both before and during the race. A crew of 10 will accompany the team providing nutrition, medical support, physical therapy and mental encouragement over the excrutiating 3,000 miles. The team is looking for support in funding the race by providing travel, nutrition and transportation to the entire Team Bergen-Hill. In addition, the team is raising additional funds to support "Behind the Badge Foundation" - an organization providing comprehensive support to Washington state’s law enforcement agencies, families and communities after a line of duty death or when an officer suffers a serious injury.
