On August 26, 2013, Liz was diagnosed with an inoperable Stage 2 Cervical Cancer. Her treatment plan includes radiation and chemotherapy. She is fighting an amazing fight and she is Boston Strong! She has supporters from all over the world fighting right along with her.
As you know, the treatment and care of a cancer patient is very expensive, especially when a good percent of the costs are out of pocket. As of today, 9/6/13, Liz was turned away from her second chemo treatment because her insurance won't cover it. We are also having issues getting a pick line approved and some support medications that she needs. It's very stressful to see your loved ones in pain and that help is so close - yet so far, because of our healthcare system. We have applied for grants, but we have not received any word on those yet.
We set up some high level awards for those who are in a position to donate a little more. But, every little bit helps and we are humbled by any amount you wish to donate. In fact, if everyone who sees or shares this page donates just one dollar, it would be a huge help. Any assistance you can provide would be incredibly appreciated and used to assist with:
Doctor visits and transportation
Lab tests (blood tests, urine tests, and more, which are usually billed separately)
Clinic visits for treatments
Procedures (for diagnosis or treatment, which can include room charges, equipment, doctors, pathologists, and more)
Imaging tests (such as x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, which may mean that you're billed separately for radiologist fees, equipment, and any medicines used in the test)
Radiation treatments (implants, external radiation, or both)
Drug costs (inpatient, outpatient, prescription, non-prescription, and procedure-related)
Hospital stays (which can include many types of costs such as drugs, tests, and procedures as well as nursing care, doctor visits, and consults with specialists)
Surgery (surgeon, anesthesiologist, pathologist, operating room fees, equipment, medicines, and more)
