#TeamAmy Against Cancer
On Friday November 13th my beautiful sister in law, Amy was diagnosed with lung cancer. Not only was she diagnosed with lung cancer, but we got the awful news that it had spread throughout her entire body. For those of you who know her, you know that is she is an extraordinary human being and loves SO hard. She is positive, loving, funny and unbelievably strong and always puts her friends and family before herself.
The week before Christmas Amy finished 10 sessions of radiation where they focused on the brain and neck area of the body because the tumors there cause the most pain and issues for her. Last week Amy was admitted into Mayo Hospital in Rochester because her blood platelet counts were very low as well as a blood clot in her leg. She spent 7 days in the hospital alone due to COVID she was unable to have any visitors with her. During her stay there she had a small seizure which was a small set back, but thankfully she was able to go home right before Christmas to be home with Jay. Amy also started her first round of chemotherapy during her stay at Mayo, Rochester and will have to go down every 2-3 weeks to continue treatments.
Because of this, Amy has not been able to work and will not likely return for awhile. Also because Amy is extremely weak and fatigue and needs additional fulltime care, Jay will be taking time off work and will be staying home with her to take care of her as well as all the household needs.
Multiple medications are needed daily to control pain and medical bills are starting to stack up everyday and the cost of driving to and from Rochester multiple times a week is costly. Hopefully with help from others Amy can focus on kicking cancers ass and worry less about bills and household stuff.
Amy is one of the strongest, most selfless people I have ever known and is always there to give her love, support and shirt off her back to anyone that is in need.
