It's finally here! We are prepping to leave for pre-production in Kyrgyzstan! It's been a long journey thus far and we really thank you for running with us to this point!
As many of you know, we are trying to film a production called "After the Rain" in Kyrgyzstan to share a story of a father's love for his Bride Kidnapped daughter. Bride Kidnapping is the practice where a man kidnaps a girl and forces her into marriage. (Find out more here). Every year, 15,000 girls are bride kidnapped, and over half of these marriages end up in domestic violence.
When we heard about this issue, we desperately wanted to bring hope and change to this beautiful nation. After seeing so much hurt and brokenness within the Kyrgyz families, our desire is to see the families of Kyrgyzstan enveloped in love, thus bringing a brighter future for the next generation of Kyrgyzstan.
Our plan is to film this production in Kyrgyzstan, with Kyrgyz talent, in the local language, and screened in Kyrgyzstan. We believe stories have the power to change lives, and we want to give Kyrgyzstan a story of hope. But we can't do this alone!
Our overall budget for the entire project is around 150K, but we are trying to raise $25,000 from our friends and family to begin pre-production & research in Kyrgyzstan for a period of 2 months!
The more funds we raise, the more pre-production we can get done! We know this is a lot of money, so we need all the help we can get! :)
