FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition Team 6418: The Missfits is an all-female community robotics team based in San Francisco. This is our team's first year competing, and our members joined the team with little to no experience. We built our robot in 6 weeks out of a home garage using recycled materials such as old bedframes and vintage bike parts.
This weekend we competed at the Silicon Valley Regional and won the Highest Rookie Seed Award, ranked 8 out of 60 teams, were semifinalists, and won the Rookie All-Star Award. Our robot performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we unexpectedly qualified for World Championships in Houston, Texas later this month!
Unfortunately, our team of 15 girls cannot currently afford to attend Champs. This will be our chance to connect with teams and people from around the world, meet with companies offering internships, attend workshops, and learn about colleges offering special scholarships for students involved in FIRST.
All donations will go toward registration, travel costs, and robot and equipment shipping costs. We need the money urgently, as registration is due soon.
Thank you so much for reading our story!
