Team Zubia FIGHTS Aplastic Anemia

Update!!!!!!!!!! Chris had his labs done today and blood counts have dropped once again. Doctors put him on 2 antibiotics and prescribed him a 3rd that he is to fill if he runs a fever. Chris is supposed to check his temperature 3 times a day and if he runs anything over a 100 he's supposed to start the 3rd antibiotic.

His doctor from Dallas called and wants him to start taking his labs weekly. If his numbers continue to drop for the next 4 weeks they will move forward with the bone marrow transplant process.

Please pray for us!

"I take comfort in knowing that I serve an all sovereign God and I trust my life to Him alone."

In June of 2016 I was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia, a rare bone marrow failure disease in which the morrow fails to produce a sufficient amount of red cells, white cells, and platelets for the body.

The only cure for Aplastic Anemia is a bone marrow transplant. Some patients suffer from life-threatening problems as a result of their transplant. These problems can include serious infections and graft-versus-host disease, in which the transplanted cells attack the patient's body. These side effects can be fatal.

Currently doctors are monitoring my blood counts and a bone marrow transplant date is yet to be determined. The bone marrow transplant process and recovery time is between 4 to 12 months; this is different for each patient.

The outpouring love and support from the church, friends, and family has been overwhelming and words are inadequate to express our thanks. From old neighborhood friends, to class mates, to family, to people we just met. It’s amazing how God can use an unfortunate disease to bring so many people to demonstrate their love and support.

It is also humbling, we have received calls from people asking how they can help financially. I have worked all my life and it’s difficult to receive gifts, especially monetarily. However, I also know that medical costs and time spend out of work are difficult to anticipate.

…Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:18-21
