Help for a 40 year old Stroke Victim

On Monday August 27, 2018, our close friend Neal suffered a very unexpected and shocking stroke at the early age of 40, while coaching his sons soccer practice.  Neal is happily married with two young boys, ages, 11 and 7.  He has coached his sons soccer teams for the past several years and is actively involved in the community.

As a result of the stroke, Neal suffered full paralysis on the left side of his body.  He was in the ICU at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, for 7 days, and was then transferred to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico.  Although his progress with his rehabilitation has been going very well, he is still expected to be in the Rehabilitation Hospital for several more weeks.  He will then be transferred to his home with in house healthcare to continue his rehabilitation for several months.

Neal has healthcare insurance which will pay for the majority of his medical bills; however, he will need to pay out of pocket for portions of the expenses as well as co-payments for his hospital and rehab center stay, Dr. co-pays, and home healthcare.  Both Neal and his wife are employed; however, he is the main financial supporter for the family.  He will not be able to return to work for approximately 6 months.  Additionally, Dr.'s have indicated even after returning home, it will be required that Neal have 24 hour monitoring over the course of his rehab, which will require his wife to also miss work, all of which will cause the family financial hardship.

All money raised will be used to pay Neal's direct medical expenses.  If there is any remaining, it will go towards payment of his monthly mortgage payment and utilities.
