Team Maddie

In June 2017, we received the terrible news that Maddie had been diagnosed with Brain Cancer (high grade [3] – diffuse glioma).  For anyone who knows Maddie, and for Maddie herself, this news has come as a total shock.  Maddie has always been hardworking and independent, so her inability to work right now (at only 23 years old), is taking its toll. She received a full scholarship to Indiana University – Bloomington in 2012, and was working towards a degree in Outdoor Recreation, Parks, and Human Ecology.  While she was in school, she worked anywhere from 30-40 hours per week, rarely taking time off for herself.  She has the kindest soul and is always taking into consideration the thoughts and feelings of others. In the years that I have personally known Maddie, she has never put herself before those who have needed her. She is the person that everyone goes to when they need a friend, and now we are asking that you please return the favor. As I'm sure you all can imagine, cancer is not cheap. Between treatment, appointments, home-care, and other related expenses the final cost can be in the tens-of thousands of dollars – or more. All of the money donated will go directly to Maddie and expenses related to her treatment.

The doctors have described her cancer as “ugly,” “mean,” and “aggressive.” Treatment started on 6/26/2017, and will continue for 6 weeks, so this doesn’t leave us a lot of time.
