On behalf of Lissette, Joseph, & their three children (Jayden 8, Jesenia 10, & Joshua 8 months) we want to truly thank everyone for their ongoing support. Right now Lissette is at the height of her struggle with stage 4 colon cancer. Eight months ago doctors discovered a mass during her pregnancy & Lissette was forced to deliver early. What was supposed to be a joyous & exciting time for their family turned into something Lissette had feared her entire life - her own mother had passed away from this very same thing.
For the last eight months the James family has continued to endure one of the most painful & excruciating battles anyone could ever imagine. Lissette’s cancer has now spread from her colon to her liver, lymph nodes, spine, & now her lungs. She has had 80% of her liver removed, 12 chemotherapy treatments & has lost 60 lbs. She has continued to battle tachycardia (an elevated heart rate) & a wound doctors have been draining for the past two months.
Although we originally posted a modest financial goal, it has become apparent that the fight for Lissette’s life is becoming overwhelmingly expensive. We feel it necessary to ask for continued donations to help lessen the excessive financial burdens they continue to face. No amount is too small & every dime is immensely appreciated. The usual car, house, & utility payments, the everyday cost of living, & extensive non-covered medical bills are causing great worry. Lissette’s yearly pay has been exhausted on medical treatments & she is now unable to work, leaving them to pay her medical insurance out of pocket. Even with insurance, certain treatments necessary for Lissette’s care are not covered. While Joseph has maintained a strong reputation in the dog training business, it has certainly remained a struggle for them to support a family of five while continuing to fight for Lissette’s life.
“Team Lissette” originally aimed to produce a place for friends & family to donate. We are now urgently reaching out to those who may not even know the James family, but understand a crisis of this magnitude can completely devastate a family. Lissette is a caring mother of three (young) children, a wife, sister, daughter, & friend. She is a teacher who has enjoyed working with special needs students as well as teaching Spanish to elementary & high school students. Lissette deserves for us to fight for her chance to live a full life alongside her family.
Team Lissette remains immensely grateful to all of you following the James family’s journey. We are incredibly appreciative of your prayers, shares, & donations (no matter how big) & remain hopeful that you all continue to pray for Lissette’s full recovery. ❤️
