Kay King is a very caring and loving woman, who is beautiful inside and out. She is a grandma to 6 beautiful grand kids who all call her Grandma Kay Kay, the best mother to us (her children) Ashley, Amanda and Alicia and is an amazing wife to our dad, Jeff.  She is our rock.

Earlier this June, our mother made an appointment to see her doctor about some abdominal pain. Little did she know that this appointment would change our lives.

Our mom was getting ready to have her colonoscopy and was unable to finish the procedure due to finding a large mass in her colon. The doctor took a biopsy and within a week we had the results. “Cancer? You’re telling us our mom has cancer? How could that even happen?” These were the words no one wants to hear.

In the past few months our mom have been in and out labs, CT/PET scans and numerous doctor appointments. It was confirmed and our mother was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer, there were tears for weeks. She broke down and felt defeated.  She even mentioned she just wanted to give up and not do chemo because of how much it was going to cost. We asked one doctor for some reassurance, and he looked at me, stone-faced, and said, “A lot of this just depends on you". I am not sure if my mom is ready for this but between hope, faith and love, I think she is going to KICK ASS!

Unfortunately, at this time our mom does not have any insurance. Our dad makes about $1,000 too much to get on State Insurance. And open enrollment for our dad’s insurance is not open until September/ October and she may not be able to even get on with his insurance. We have been on several phone calls and filled out many financial help forms with not much success at this time.

With every appointment, procedure, treatment comes a cost. A cost that we didn’t prepare for. As much as we want to keep this to ourselves and just deal with it. We have asked God to give us strength to let us allow people to help. Please don’t feel obligated to give, if you cannot, our only ask is that you remember our mom, Kay, in your thoughts and prayers as she fights this battle. Whether its prayer, reaching out or helping offset cost associated with the diagnosis.

We have her surgery scheduled for her to remove the mass in her colon. She will then recover for a couple weeks before starting Chemotherapy. Her chemo will consist of every 2 weeks. With CT scan every couple months.

Thank you for everyone’s support and we will keep you all updated on her status. We appreciate every single one of you for all the love and support we have received. For all your prayers. We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.

God is good.

**We will be having a Facebook Benefit Auction and we are looking for auction donations. Date and time TBA. **
