Eine der größten Herausforderungen unserer Zeit ist das fehlende Verständnis für andere Standpunkte. In einer Zeit, in der differenzierte Diskussionen durch Pöbeleien ersetzt werden, stellen wir uns mit unserem Projekt gegen diesen Trend.

Was sind die World Schools Debating Championships?
Die World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) ist das größte internationale Schuldebattierturnier mit bis zu 65 teilnehmenden Nationen. Dieses findet jedes Jahr in einem anderen Land statt. Vergangene Austragungsorte waren Peru, Bali und Stuttgart. Dieses Jahr wird das Turnier in Colombo, Sri Lanka stattfinden.
Was ist das Debattieren?
Das von uns verwendete World Schools Debating ist die global bekannteste Form des englischen Schuldebattierens. Hierbei begegnen sich 2 Teams, die Regierung und die Opposition jeweils für und gegen ein Thema in einer Debatte. Diese ist nicht nur eine Diskussion, sondern ein Ablauf an Reden, um eine zugeloste Position zu vertreten. Die Debatten finden komplett in englischer Sprache statt. Sie schulen nicht nur das sichere internationale Auftreten, sondern auch Rhetorik und kritisches Denken. Durch den zugelosten Standpunkt lernen die Debattanten und Debattantinen zudem, sich in andere ethische, politische und kulturelle Standpunkte hineinzudenken und Argumente für und gegen diese zu finden.

Bei den World Schools Debating Championships entsendet jedes Land ein Team aus 3-5 Debattanten, die sich in philosophischen, wirtschaftlichen und politischen Debatten messen. Zudem ist die Veranstaltung ein Ort des friedlichen, kulturellen und globalen Austausches.
Durch für das Turnier nötige Vorbereitungsturniere, Transport- und Turnierkosten besteht jedoch leider eine finanzielle Barriere, die für viele der Teilnehmer leider nicht allein überwindbar ist. Wir hoffen, dass Sie unsere Auffassung teilen, dass niemand von einer solchen Chance aus finanziellen Gründen ausgeschlossen werden sollte.
Ihre Spende wird ausschließlich für die Teilnahme von Debattanten an den Turnieren, sowie die Transportkosten zu diesen verwendet werden. Hierbei kann jede Spende direkt für die Teilnahme an einem Turnier verwendet werden. Jeder Euro hat daher einen direkten Einfluss. Sie würden unsere Teilnehmer darin unterstützen, die riesige Chance zu ergreifen, die sich ihnen bietet. Es gibt kaum eine Veranstaltung für junge Menschen, die derart international besetzt den demokratischen Diskurs und die Völkerverständigung fördert. Von Ihrer Förderung profitieren primär Schüler und Schülerinnen, denen die Teilnahme an diesem Projekt unter keinen Umständen ohne Ihre Hilfe möglich wäre.

One of the biggest challenges of our time is the lack of understanding among people regarding different viewpoints. In a time in which constructive discussions is replaced with shouting at each other our project actively works against this trend.
Please help us to represent Germany at the World Schools Debating Championships.
What are the World Schools Debating Championships?
The World Schools Debating Championships are the biggest international school debating tournament with regular attendance of about 65 nations. The host of the event changes annually. Past hosts include Peru, Bali and Stuttgart. This year, the tournament will happen in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
What is Debating?
World Schools Debating is the most well-known form of debating for school students globally. In debating two teams, the government and the opposition, face to persuade experienced adjudicators of a position on a motion that has been allocated randomly before. A debate is not just a discussion. It happens with a set order of speeches. Debating not just teaches speakers to appear professionally on the international stage, but also how to use rhetoric and how to think critically. By being allocated a position rather than defending just their own opinion, debaters also learn to understand ethical, political and cultural positions that are different from their own opinions.

At the World Schools Debating Championships every country is represented by a team consisting of 3-5 debaters who face off in debatese about politics, economics and philosophy. Furthermore, the event is a place of peaceful, cultural and global exchange.
However, with the necessary preparation tournaments, transport and tournament costs there exists a financial threshold that is impossible to overcome indivdually for some participants. We hope that you share our belief that no one should be excluded from such a chance on financial grounds.
Your donation will be exclusively used to enable debaters to participate in tournaments and to travel to these tournaments. With our project, every donation can be used directly for a tournament. Therefore, every euro/dollar/pound you pay has a direct impact. You would support our participants to take the enormous chance that is offered to them. There is hardly any other event for young people that is so global and so efficient in promoting democratic discourse and global peace. Donations will be primarily used to support students whose participation at the World Schools Debating Championship would not be possible under any circumstances without your help.
