Team GB Bobsleigh- Olympic dream:
Hi, My name is Éire Rowland-Evans and I am a British Bobsleigh athlete.
Last year I competed in the international Monobob OMEGA youth series, gaining a world ranking of 20th and narrowly missing out on the chance to go to the 2020 Youth Winter Olympics due to breaking my collarbone.
I am now working towards gaining selection for future Winter Olympics, along with racing in some European Cup races, as I have now progressed onto the GB women’s development team.
This season however, we have been given 0 funding, meaning I am now looking for sponsorships to help make my Olympic dreams a reality.
I am an 18 year old University student, so funding my own season is almost impossible. My father is also chronically ill, so it is difficult for my parents to keep up their continued financial support.
The long term goal is to raise enough money for me to buy my own Monobob which, is around £25,000-30,000, this is why my end goal is so high. I understand this may take some time to reach so in the short term I am hoping to raise enough money to just get me out on season as I need to pay for sled hire, transport and driver for my sled, transport and accommodation for myself along with paying for sled runs and competition fees.
