Team Emma Beth

Sweet Emma Beth was diagnosed with a cancerous mass on her brain in May of 2016. Many of you have followed Emma Beth's journey and know that she is cancer free (yay!).

Unfortunately, the surgery and chemo have left Emma Beth with seizures. After talking with Emma Beth's neurologist, it is believed that the next step will be to implant a vagus nerve stimulator (VNS). This serves as a "pace maker" that can alert when Emma Beth experiences a grandmal seizure. Over spring break, Emma Beth will be admitted to the hospital for more tests.

The Greenawalt's must come up with their $3,000 deductible before the neurologist can run the testing. If she is a fit for the VNS the family will have to come up with an additional $5,000 to cover the cost of the VNS.

Missie has been a blessing to my family and many others at St. Paul's. Anything will help alleviate some of this financial stress.

If you would like to read up on the VNS, I found this post from WebMD that gives a good explanation of the device. https://www.webmd.com/epilepsy/vagus-nerve-stimulator-for-epilepsy
