Timber Wars Veteran & Forest Restoration Leader --  Cheerleader for Earth Activists Everywhere!

Bobcat Robert Brothers is calling people together again to work for the Earth and feel the benefits, to us & to all.

Team Bobcat - Empowering Activists  with Info & Inspiration, Victories & Beauty!

Our goals are to empower Earth Activists with information about current victories & inspire them with poetry, songs, photos and ceremonies -- by any media necessary (in person, print, radio, video, internet).

Existing Projects:

-- Information about current victories:  A wiki news service pilot project.
Good News for the Earth , (and on facebook - Earth Good News )
Building a network of people & groups to maintain our current pages, and to encourage the use of wiki news services world-wide.

-- Inspiration with beautiful photos, poetry, songs & ceremonies:
Earth Devotion : collecting and selecting from Bobcat's writings from 35 years of activism, for ongoing input to Bobcat's facebook timeline, robertbrothers.33, and eventual publication
Blessing Mountains in the Snow : multicultural prayers, spoken & musical. fall & spring at the top of Mount Ashland.

Proposed Projects expanding on Good News for the Earth:

1.  The Timber Wars Wiki History Project
Information + Inspiration = adding past stories of victories & lessons. (Examples of and dialogues about, strategies, tactics, lessons)
To be collected by Bobcat, from his experiences, and from those written by other activists.

2.  The Evolving Movement
Networking, Mutual Learning & Teamwork
-- the people and groups behind the victories,
-- the existing networks and alliances,
-- how to improve our communication & teamwork

Bobcat's Unique Contributions:
1.  Examples of winning strategies & tactics, such as those that helped an alliance of local and national groups protect 9 million acres of Ancient Forest from clearcutting in 1994.
2.    A revolutionary theory about our relationship to the larger body in which we all dwell, the power behind our environmental activism.

WE ARE CELLS IN EARTH'S BODY
Energy and Guidance go to those, like us, who are helping.

This is the message that Bobcat's life as an activist for the last 35 years illustrates.

Here's the proposed $20,000 budget.  Details can be found after the photos below.

INSPIRATION

$6,000 salary, Bobcat’s Writings & Photos, editing & publishing 35 years of writings on activism, ecology, & facilitating social change -- illustrated with photos.

$2,400 expenses, Earth Devotion, spreading the revolutionary worldview that Bobcat has expanded beyond the Gaia Hypothesis to include the positive role of humans in the “physiology of the Earth.”

The Earth is the larger Body in which we all dwell,
We are Cells in Earth’s Body.
Energy goes to those cells, like us, who are helping.

WIKI NEWS SERVICE

$7,500 expenses, Good News for the Earth , We don't know how strong we are, how many cells are helping.  But if we do our own reporting, we will be inspired!

CEREMONIES FOR THE EARTH

$1,100 expenses, Blessing Mount Ashland
“Feel thanks, Touch the Snow, Spread the Blessings",
11 years of multi-cultural ceremonies: no speeches, no sermons, only uninterrupted prayers, spoken & musical; at the Ski Area, now both before and after the season.

ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION

0 salary, Lomakatsi Restoration Project , Board Treasurer, "Restoring Ecosystems, Sustaining Communities".
Involvement in this dynamic and growing organization keeps me in tune with accomplishments in many areas that can then be reported in Earth Good News

$3,000 salary, TEAM BOBCAT Management, annual salary, Bobcat Robert Brothers’ overall management.

A small booklet previewing some of the best of my writings, with photos, will be my gift to all who donate.

As someone once wrote, "My little gift cannot pull much, but it is a privilege even to take hold of the rope."

Please give it a chance.
-- Experience the joy of participating in something larger than yourself - the defense of Mother Earth!
-- Witness in your own daily life the mutual reciprocity between person and planet, where giving is receiving.

Love,
Bobcat

The photos below illustrate the experiences over the last 35 years that are the foundation of this project

1982 - Stopping Herbicide Spray in Idaho, the first civil disobedience organized by Bobcat, from the Rainbow Gathering in Idaho that year.

1987 - Leading the Earth First! Siskiyou campaign to stop logging in this unprotected wilderness area, via road blockades, tree sits, and occupying logging equipment. Photo posed for Tim Bullard, GP Courier.

1988 - Earth First! Siskiyou protest against herbicide spray, Siskiyou National Forest, Grants Pass, Oregon.

1990s - Forest Policy Analyst, Headwaters Environmental Center, Ashland, Oregon.  Full on document review and press release writing, no photos.

2002 - Facilitating  a meeting  of the California Wilderness Coalition.

2006 - First Nations Day, Ashland, Oregon.  Grandmother Agnes Baker Pilgrim asked Bobcat to organize this event to bless a beautifully carved tree welcoming the spirit of Native Americans back to southwest Oregon, 150 years after their Trail of Tears.  Russell Beebe, the carver, is directly behind the mike.

2007 to present, Blessing Mount Ashland, 11 years of multi-cultural ceremonies, welcoming the snow in the fall, giving thanks for it in the spring.

Challenge:  Who will be next to get a headline Honoring the Earth?

Here's the itemized budget for Team Bobcat:

My source of strength is where I live, in the remote wildlands of northern California.
