Join Team Barlow and kick cancer's butt!
John Barlow and Krista Solley should be preparing for their wedding which was to be held on April 1, 2017. Instead, they are battling cancer.
A few weeks ago, John was diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancer. Since then, John has been at MUSC in Charleston and Krista has been by his side. We hope that he will be returning home to Bluffton next week, which is when he will start aggressive chemotherapy.
It has been incredibly touching to see how many friends and family have reached out to offer love and support in this, quite frankly, totally rotten time. There are so many people on Team Barlow, and we all want to do something - anything to help!
There will be lots of ways to support them as John goes through treatment. One thing we can do right now is come together to try to ease some of the financial strain that cancer puts on a family.
John is self-employed, and Krista is an artist and works in food and bev - which means neither of them are at work while they are focusing on treatment. In addition to taking time off of work, frequent trips to Charleston can get expensive! We are seeking donations as one way of showing our support for John.
I once saw this guy run 32 miles in one day through sheer willpower and stubborness. Some of you ran with him on that blazing hot day, and some of us just cheered him on from our lawn chairs.
To know John is to love him for his tenacity - so we know he will fight this with everything he's got.
