Student Teaching Overseas

Recently, I found out about an amazing opportunity where I can student teach overseas through a program called COST. With my last semester in college, I hope to be able to go through this program and complete my student teaching overseas!

I am excited for this opportunity because I think that it will be beneficial for me and for my teaching to learn about another culture, as well as how they teach. Seeing and taking part in education in another country will help me to be a better teacher and it will make me more desirable when applying for teaching positions after graduating. In addition to that, I think that it will be good for me personally because I have never been out on my own. I think that this experience will help me to grow as a person and into more of a "real" grown up.

I have been saving as much money as I can and will continue to, but at this rate I am not going to be able to save nearly enough. We were told that it is, on average, $6,000 on top of a regular semester! With the program, you choose the top four places you would like to go, then they send your application to one at a time. The places I listed were #1 New Zealand, #2 Australia, #3 Ireland, and #4 Germany. For NZ, the flight alone is $2,000. I am hoping that I can raise some money to help me fun my trip. Every dollar counts and helps bring me closer to actually getting to student teach in New Zealand!!
