Tea and Biscuits With Sophie

Sophie is the daughter any parent hopes for; bright, driven and self motivated.  However, she is Stanford smart and we are community college funded at the moment.  She applied to Oxbridge overseas summer learning by completing the application and all requirements on her own - all I did was sign my name and cross my fingers.

She was awarded a partial scholarship to study Human Rights and Critical Thinking at Oxford this July (Andrew says, "Yes The Friggin' Oxford in Jolly Old  England").

We've got a little further to go so we can cover her travel and living expenses.  Most of you know, as a teacher, I don't get a paycheck in the summer.  She dresses too nice to walk through London like a character from a Dickens novel, whimpering, "Please, Sir!  I'm very hungry"

Through the years Sophie has been in Model UN, mock trials and many other experiences that have made her very aware of issues around social justice.  I couldn't be prouder of her and I hope that she will be one of the young people we need in our state department and federal government in years to come.

She's a sophomore in high school that quotes Noam Chomsky for gosh sakes!  Please, help me get her butt to Oxford.
