Phoenix

Phoenix was found chained to a tree in an orchard in the Fresno, California fruit growing area. His shelter records show a weight of 20 pounds. He has no muscle tone and very little flesh on his body. He is truly skin and bones!
His will to live is incredible!! He does not like being “helped” physically but is so very grateful for a touch, a word, a stroke and a warm comfy bed.
I cannot imagine, nor do I want to, what this dog has been subjected to in order to be the physical shape he is in!
He is so hungry he grabbed a piece of old particle board, took a big bite and swallowed it before I could get his mouth open. He grabbed a plastic wrapper but we were able to get that out of his mouth.
He is currently being fed five small meals a day. Turkey and sweet potato kibble with honest kitchen gruel over it, a raw egg once a day, and honest kitchen treats during the day. He would eat until he burst - he is so very starved! His vet bills are expected to be very high and RINCAL would appreciate any help we can get to cover these bills.
