We hope everyone has been well and keeping warm during this brisk weather!
This November, we have been given the amazing opportunity to go on a missions trip to Cambodia together for the first time with our home church Promise International Fellowship!! We are super excited and nervous at the same time. But we are going with big hopes and expectations for incredible things to happen!
Just a little background with the whos, the whats, the whys, etc. Cambodia is bordered by Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. It's history is filled with heartbreak and devastation. In the short time from 1975-1979, the communist party known as the Khmer Rouge, lead by Pol Pot, was responsible for one of the worst and most heartless mass killings in the 20th Century. Over 2 million lives were taken. And not just any lives, but those that would have been the future and hope of their nation. Anyone thought to be an intellectual of any sort was killed. Often people were condemned for wearing glasses or knowing a foreign language!
Faith, hope, and love. This is what our team of 6 want to humbly bring as we embark on our journey from November 2-14. Promise International Fellowship has helped establish a school and child sponsorship program known as Promise Kids School and Promise Kids Foundation. Our team will be visiting and spending time with the children at PKS/PKF and also be visiting other villages and sites. We are also super, super excited to be given the opportunity to meet our sponsor child, Mengtho Mao, for the first time!!! Through teaching English, Bible Story Programs, and just plain old having fun and spending time with all the children and people we meet, we want to bring the message of God's deep love, hope, worth, and healing.
We are only 2 short weeks away from this unbelievably exciting journey. More than anything else, we need your prayers!! Please join us in praying for the broken nation of Cambodia. Please also pray for our team - for safety throughout our travels, for health, for wisdom, and for open, humble and sensitive hearts. Please pray for us specifically, as we journey together on missions for the first time. And last but not least please pray for Promise Kids School and Promise Kids Foundation as God has been doing amazing things through them.
We are also in need of sponsorship and fundraising for this amazing opportunity and privilege to shine God's deep faith, hope and love for the country of Cambodia. If you feel in your heart that you would like to financially partner with us it would give us no greater joy than to have you as our sponsors! Each contribution will go towards trip expenses, necessary school supplies and materials, arts and crafts materials for the children, and other necessities for PKS and PKF. We know everyone's situation is very different so please do not feel pressured or burdened in any way to give financially. If you do decide to fund us, any amount big or small will be so helpful and humbling.
We have no doubt that your partnership through prayers and financial support will change the lives and course of this nation. And for this we are so humbled, blessed and thankful beyond measure!
