TC STRONG Terry Cross Rehab Fund
On June 19, 2020, my dad Terry was in a tragic accident resulting in paralysis from the upper chest down. He suffered a C6-C7 spinal fracture, and was quickly transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for emergency surgery to fuse his spine. After 3 long days in the Neuro Trauma ICU, my dad finally was extubated and was able to talk, breathe on his own, swallow, and move his arms. On July 1st, Terry was transferred to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for Spinal Cord Rehabilitation, where he continues to undergo hours of physical therapy, occupational therapy and recreational therapy. He’s working hard to build his strength and regain his independence while working through considerable pain. His positivity and determination is in full effect with the support of his friends and family at a distance due to visitor restrictions with COVID-19.
For those of you that know my dad Terry, he is one vigilant, positive, humorous person who would help anyone in a heartbeat. As you can imagine, even through this challenging time, Terry has been the source of laughter and fun for all the nurses, doctors, therapists, friends and loved ones. We can’t help but love to be around him.
Terry has always been an athlete. From a young age, he was scouted for the Boston Bruins. He holds the course record at Lake of the Pines golf course, where he beat the previous record by 8 strokes! He has crushed the LOP club championship 5 times!
Terry is looking forward to cooking with his daughter, going skydiving with his son, and kicking all his friends butts in golfing. We want to support him in every way possible to recover and fulfill his goals.
Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover the bulk of the costs to help Terry regain his independence. We are asking for your help to cover many of the expenses that Terry and his family will have to bear including:
- Out of pocket medical expenses.
- Ongoing medical expenses including medications and at home equipment.
- Future rehab
- Adapted car that is wheelchair-accessible and will allow Terry to drive.
- Adaptive athletic equipment (including adaptive golf cart wheelchair).
- Adaptive toilet seat and shower seat.
- Stander - which allows Terry to be in an upright position. This helps maintain bone density, muscle strength, and posture, and improves heart and lung health.
