Tlyn- Cant fight this fight w/o you

Donation protected
As a child, there is a feeling of invincibility, a feeling that nothing in the world could harm you or anyone that you love.  Life blessings & challenges unfold all around us and it isn’t until something significant hits close to home that we stop and truly count our blessings.  27 years old, active, healthy, no significant family history or health problems, and now CANCER. As some of you may know or are reading for the first time, in October 2017, Tommilyn Bayong-Dougher was chosen to fight a rare and aggressive type of breast cancer.

In August 2017, bloody breast discharge had indicated what Doctors thought was a simple breast infection.  After a lack of improvement post antibiotics, and a referral for a second opinion, Oahu specialist found a breast lump.  By October 9th, a Lumpectomy surgery was completed and the beginning of an intense treatment plan rapidly began to unfold.

Multiple tests and pathology reports indicated a diagnosis of Her2 positive Breast Cancer, including two different types of invasive cancers (Multifocal Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and Mucinous Carcinoma.)  Multiple screenings (P.E.T Scan, MRI, CatScan) and a Genetic test then confirmed BRCA1 and BRCA2.  Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, (a rare medical condition, known to greatly increase the risk of developing several types of cancer in young adults and children) was also found leaving her 2 young children with a 50% chance of also carrying the genetic medical condition.

With her diagnosis of stage 1 Breast Cancer, we hoped for the best.  However, in just a few short weeks, the rapid spread of cancer has sadly caused Tommilyn’s procedures to take place much quicker than we anticipated.  An Auxillary Lymph Node dissection in December 2017, determined Tommilyn’s cancer had already progressed to stage 2.  A dozen medical appointments and trips to Oahu have included multiple biopsies and medication treatments.  Doctors have since recommended an aggressive treatment plan which includes an immediate double Mastectomy along with Chemotherapy before, during and after, with the possibility of radiation.

As an independent mother of 2 young children, Tommilyn has remained strong and positive.  With limited medical treatments on Maui, we are asking for all the support that we can possibly get.  While we know that God only chooses his strongest to fight these type of battles, we wholeheartedly believe that our chances of winning greatly increase with the support & love from the community, our friends and Ohana.  Prayers, financial/physical support, medical expertise, homeopathic remedies, perhaps a talent or business that you would be willing to share or advertise with proceeds going towards supporting Tommilyn; anything at all would be greatly appreciated.

Tommilyn needs to rest and allow her body to heal and we have faith that with your support, we can fight this together.  It is clear that God works in mysterious ways & that none of us are above him.  Our best friend/sister/daughter and mother, needs us.  Please help us and share Tommilyn’s story, do your self-breast exams and join us in fighting this battle.
