Taylor's Nursing Trip to Thailand

Donation protected
About Me:
I am a student at Oregon Health and Science University, School of Nursing (OHSU SON). This fall I will be entering my final year at OHSU SON and graduate in June with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. This past academic year I was awarded membership to The Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau International and joined the Monmouth Student Nurses Association Board of 2017-2018.

I am delighted to announce that this summer I interviewed and was accepted into the OHSU SON Global International Service Learning Trip to Thailand! Through this, I will be participating in a four-week intensive coursework and clinical trip to Bangkok, Thailand.

The Trip:
OHSU SON Global is a facet of OHSU that provides an opportunity for faculty and students to collaborate with international partners on community health, research, and coursework focused on global consciousness. Through this program, myself and seven other students from across the four OHSU SON campuses in Oregon will travel to Bangkok, Thailand for a four-week coursework and clinical rotation. We will partner with Mahidol University (the largest and oldest nursing school in Thailand), to focus on health care delivery, and community nursing.

Working clinically in Thailand would be an amazing opportunity to expand my clinical skills in addition to learning of the intricacies of global work. Working with a new cohort of students and professors, in an unfamiliar country in addition to an unfamiliar client population, will foster immense growth in both my personal-self and towards my nursing education.

Logistics:

As overjoyed as I am to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity, this trip does have a considerable cost. I will be responsible for the majority of expenses, including:
·       Airfare to and from Bangkok
·       Lodging
·       Transportation Fees
·       Meals
·       Uniforms
·       Administrative Fees

As I am saving for these expenses I also must consider that this is in addition to scheduled term fees such as tuition and books. Furthermore, while abroad I will experience a month’s loss of income and must account for rent and bills for the month following the trip.

I know this opportunity will be completely worth the expense and therefore I am prepared to save as much as I can, however, any amount you are willing to donate towards me in reaching this goal would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for all your continued encouragement and support! I plan to post updates about the trip as I undergo orientation, training and while in Thailand.

If you have any questions about the trip feel free to message me.

Stay tuned for the adventure!
