Taylor Family Car Accident with Serious Injuries!

Donation protected
The Taylor family was in a serious car accident while traveling from Kentucky to Alabama to visit family for Christmas, 12/23/2019. Their van was hit, flipped, and came to a rest on its top. They had to be cut out; eight people were in the vehicle, including adults, teenagers, and several children. So far, at least four are seriously injured, requiring hospitalization and in-depth surgery.

Dewayne’s injuries are especially concerning because of his existing health issues related to his paralysis. He is currently in a neck brace due to a fractured vertebra, and he may completely lose his ear because blood flow isn’t returning like they would like after a reattachment surgery. Doctors are still determining how to best treat his broken pelvis and ribs with his prior health issues.

Charlotte has had surgery on her open fracture tibia, her leg was stuck underneath a seat, and their vehicle was hit on her side. She is in a wound vac because her wound is too large to be sewn shut. Please especially keep her in your thoughts. She is a very strong woman, but she is in serious pain and her injuries will prevent her from caring for her whole family, who all need her strength so much right now. She is the definition of a caretaker.

One teenager has broken ribs, and a badly broken foot that required surgery and several stitches. Another of the injured teenagers has two fractured vertebrae, with one leaking spinal fluid. She will require surgery. Different options are being considered, keeping in mind loss of mobility and long-term results. She has a very long road to recovery ahead of her, but thankfully is NOT expected to have any danger of paralysis due to her injuries! A third teenager suffered a brain bleed, but it is healing itself and won’t require further treatment. She has been released. All other children suffered minor cuts and bruises and have also been released to family nearby.

Aside from recovery, the family’s highest concern is replacing their specially equipped handicapped accessible vehicle, which is necessary for Dewayne’s wheelchair, and then secondarily getting everyone transferred six hours back home. We need to focus on their van first, these vehicles are VERY expensive and unfortunately was only covered by liability insurance. Your monetary donations will directly help them replace this vehicle which is mandatory for their daily life… taking kids to school, going to doctors’ appointments, etc. They are COMPLETELY UNABLE to travel without this vehicle; its replacement is urgent.

Once the family is home together, we plan to set up a Meal Train to provide meals for them through their recovery, they will need a lot of help for months to come. Please cover them in prayer, and contribute what you are able. Every penny is greatly appreciated and will bless this family who has spent their lives dedicated to helping others.
