The Story:
Our incredible father Holger Gross passed away peacefully on September 5, 2017. He was 66 years old.
In those 66 years, Holger lived a life some only dream of. From achieving a Masters degree in Architecture at the age of 23, to escaping the grips of east Berlin with his family, nothing could stop Holger from working towards his goals. By 24 he was in America with a dictionary, speaking to some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Many thought his dream of making it to Hollywood was unachievable. But against all odds, Holger worked with some of the most renowned directors and actors as a Production Designer. He received many awards in recognition of his work, including a MTV moon man for working with Madonna on one of her famous music videos. To say he lived an incredible life would be a understatement!
As a father of two, he was always pushed us to stand up for what we believed in. His stubbornness and dedication have been ingrained in us and we will always carry his strength with us as we work towards our personal goals.
How you can help:
As some of you may know, Holger had an entire life in Berlin. That being said, he left us with an apartment filled with memories, beautiful furniture and a lot of matters to be dealt with oversees. While getting family finances in order, we are in need of some help. Hendren and I must get to Berlin by Oct 1, 2017 to take over the apartment and get our fathers affairs in order.
The costs:
As hard as this is to do, we are asking for financial assistance to purchase flights to Berlin. It is crucial we get there as soon as possible. We will also need to cover our living expenses (rent, car payments, etc), since we will be unable to work during this time. We estimate that we will be in Berlin for 3-4 weeks. Finally, we would love to use the remaining funds to ship back some of the important and sentimental things back to the US.

At the end of this all, we want everyone to know that as much as he may have positively affected your life, you did the same for him. The time spent with Holger are memories we know he will cherish forever, as will we. We are beyond grateful that our amazing father was able to touch so many others lives. We hope you carry humorous and caring memories of him with you forever. He would want nothing more.
