<div>Tatyana Russell (Taty, pronounced Totty, for short) is my niece. She is a beautiful, smart, strong, 15YO that suddenly started experiencing some right shoulder pain. On Friday June 16, 2023 she went for an x-ray. Shortly after Erica, my sister, received a call no parent should ever have to take. The x-ray showed a tumor and the PCP suspected it was Osteosarcoma (cancer in the bone). Taty was admitted to the hospital that same day and underwent additional testing. The following Wednesday, she had a bone biopsy which confirmed it was Osteosarcoma. A PET scan was also done which showed it has metastasized to her lungs. Taty was again admitted to the hospital where she started chemo treatment; 12 days from the discovery of the tumor on the x-ray.

<div>Taty is in the middle of her first chemo cycle and handling it very well. She has many more cycles to go and 2 surgeries expected. One surgery to remove the tumor from her shoulder and removal of surrounding bones. The other surgery to address the nodules in her lungs. She has a tough battle ahead of her, but she has a remarkable, fighting spirit and we know with God's grace she will beat this terrible disease.

<div>It is just the beginning, and we can already see how financially, mentally, and physically challenging this battle will be. Her parents have already missed a lot of work for appointments and hospital stays, many days that go unpaid. Please consider donating to help ease some of the burden of this situation.
