Support Tasha and Joyful Journeys

My beautiful daughter Tasha just had her first and only child, Paxton Michael Scott. Becoming a mother is something she has always dreamt of but she never anticipated how difficult his arrival would be. Her water broke May 29th and the excitement of her meeting her new son set in. After 57 hours of labor, 3 long hours of pushing, a failed forceps attempt and an emergency C-section Paxton Michael finally entered the world.  During this process she had several medical complications including a broken tailbone and several additional days in the hospital only to be released then readmitted just 2 days later. This breaks my heart and frustrates me to no end because I watched my daughter cry and beg to stay one more night because she knew something was wrong.  She plead with the doctors telling them how much pain she was in and that her incision felt like it was on fire. Not only did they not listen to her but the result was her being re-admitted to the hospital for a second surgery and several additional days because she had multiple infections and 2 abscesses. This was a time meant for her and Mike Scott to be bonding with their new son, settling in at home and sharing in the exciting moments of new parenthood.  She didn’t even get to enjoy putting him in his “take home” outfit because she was too busy wiping her tears due to the pain in her body and the frustration of not being heard by her doctors and nurses. Now, weeks later, she still has a home nurse that visits 3 times a week, a machine she is connected to with tubes coming out of her stomach 24 hours a day and a handful of medications that makes it to where she cannot drive. This sweet girl has dedicated her entire life to starting a children’s charity from scratch called Joyful Journeys Community Enrichment and is now beyond overwhelmed with the stress of not being able get back to work as expected.  She feels as though her calling in life is slipping away with the charities stability being compromised as finances continue to build up with the cost of running a business that helps thousands of families in need.

Between the stress of her new medical restrictions all while taking care of an infant, the immense amount of pain she is in, the extended time she will be required to be out of work and her worry for the stability of her business and passion in life, I need to ask your help.
In order for Joyful Journeys Community Enrichment to remain open Tasha has somehow managed to secure $2,500 every month between fundraisers, donor relationships, special events and sponsorships. These avenues have currently stopped because of her recent traumatic experience but the bills continue to come. Her home finances are now suffering as well because she has had to stop all work activities that require anything more than a simple post on Facebook. She is completely dependent on others to drive her and her son to and from all doctor’s visits and appointments. I am hoping that with your kindness we can relieve some of the stress of keeping this charity alive so that she my simply focus on her son and her personal healing. As long as Joyful Journeys is in trouble I know my daughter will lose the only sleep she can squeeze in after the demands of her newborn son. Please help! She does so much for others and the community I hope that we can now show her how important she is to the world she helps so freely.

Joyful Journeys Community Enrichment works directly with local at-risk children offering everything from tutoring and direct educational support to fun activities like our cheer camp and exercise classes. We provide clothes, food and hygiene products to ensure these children are getting both their emotional and essential needs met on a day to day basis. We also head the Adams County Santa Shop to provide over 1000 children with new toys, games, books, stocking stuffers and more because every child deserves a wonderful Christmas. As a second component to our programs, Joyful Journeys focuses on the adults of our community to address the true need in changing ones current circumstance to become more self-sufficient and stable. We offer employable skills training, support to teen parents and nutrition courses to prepare healthy meals for a families on a budget to name a few.
The lease for the charity is on the 1st of every month. She is still $500 shy for June but we are hoping to also raise enough to cover July and August plus help her with her personal finances as Mike has had to take off several weeks work as well to help with driving and doctor’s appointments.
Please, please, please consider helping this wonderful woman and her beautiful son. It breaks my heart to see my daughter in so much pain both physically and emotionally. I cannot begin to express enough how grateful her father and I would be for your help.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Sue Holley
