Tasha's medical campaign

On August 5, Tasha went for an MRI in Edmonton. Mid August they received news that Tasha had lesions all over her brain. On August 23rd it was decided that she had to be immediately be admitted to the FSJ hospital to await an air ambulance to Vancouver. After a specialist had taken a look, they were told it was much worse than the initial report. She had started having symptoms 2 years previous which included slurred speech, poor balance & the shakes. It has now progressed in which she cannot walk very far and not without aid which is usually a wheel chair. The specialists were surprised she could walk at all due to the lesions being herniated to her spine. She also suffers extreme headaches, dizziness, numbness, short term memory loss along with the slurred speech, poor balance & shakes.

Aug 25 at 3pm they left the hospital for the airport to be transported to St. Paul's in Vancouver. Since that time she has undergone a tremendous amount of tests including:

6 MRI’s, some with contrast
6 CT scans
5 different ECG including EMC & EMG
2 lumbar puncture (spinal tap)
4 different x-rays
A multitude of blood tests

And now they are going to do a Gallium scan once the gallium arrives. They will then have to do brain surgery so they can get a biopsy of one of the lesions. At this time they have ruled out many things and still do not have any idea what she has. As each day goes by, this unknown disease is progressing. The head of neurology says these lesions are unlike any they have ever seen which makes it all even harder for them, Tasha, my brother & both families.

As you can imagine, this has been hard financially for them. They still have bills to pay including rent and cover my brother Lance’s stay while they are there. At this time we are unsure when she will come home and Lance will remain with her. Lance is currently sleeping on a cot in her room. She has had to take a permanent leave from work and Lance is not able to work while being with her so she is not alone down there. At this time there isn't any income or extended benefits for either. We appreciate any and all help anyone may be able to give. We also ask that you keep Tasha in your prayers. It's been a scary time for all of us and especially Tasha & Lance. All the donations will go to pay bills and help cover expenses for my brother in Vancouver. Thank you all so much!
