Taryn Bragan Medical/Bills Fund

11-Year-old Taryn was diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 9. Through the years it has become more severe that she is now in need of major back surgery. On October 11th, she will be going in the hospital for back surgery. This is a six-hour surgery where they will be performing a full spinal fusion. They will be placing two rods in the length of her back with screws and bone grafts to keep them in place. This will affect Taryn’s mobility for the rest of her life. After the surgery, her recovery will be a minimal of six weeks followed by weeks of physical therapy. She is in her first year of middle school and will miss six weeks or more of school due to the surgery.

This has been an extremely tough year for Taryn’s family due to other medical issues. Earlier in the year, Taryn’s dad Freddie has faced some pretty serious medical issues and he was in a serious car accident. He had to be out of work for a substantial amount of time and had to use all his sick and vacation time. He is now using FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) to ensure he can be there for Taryn. While on FMLA, he will not be paid for the days he needs to be out of work.

His weekly salary is not enough to cover all the out of pocket expenses. The financial burden has become quite cumbersome. The donations will be used to help pay for their health insurance, rent, food, co-pays and the numerous medical bills.
