Tara’s lymphoma journey

Donation protected
Our sister Tara has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Tara was diagnosed with stage 2 of the disease after 7 months of symptoms. Her condition is classified as‘bulky’ disease, meaning the size of her lymphoma tumour is significantly large. After much research,  and with concern over the standard U.K. treatment of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, we decided to go with an integrative approach, combining conventional and holistic treatments. Whilst not well-known in the UK, there is plenty of research and studies available on this approach.

Thanks to generosity of everyone following this page, this summer 2020, Tara was able to go to an integrative cancer treatment clinic in Germany. The clinic was recommended by someone we know whose son had stage 4 cancer and who was successfully treated. Tara stayed 6 weeks and received tailored chemotherapy alongside various other therapies including intravenous treatments and oncothermia. Whilst at the clinic, we were overjoyed that her tumours begun to shrink.

Since returning to the U.K, Tara has continued to do well. As there is currently no such facility in the UK that provides the comprehensive approach of the German clinic, we have endeavored to access as many similar therapies as possible. This has involved significant travel and expense, for which we have been incredibly grateful to have been met by the generous supporters on this page.

It now feels like the right time for Tara to have a scan to see where we now are in her healing journey. Unfortunately, the NHS have declined to scan Tara as she is not on their recommended treatment plan. Since being diagnosed 18 months ago, Tara has shown remarkable courage and a steadfast commitment to pursue healing in the way that she feels is right for her in the long term. Sadly, taking control of your health and treatment choices, and choosing differently to what is offered, is often not well received by the NHS. Tara is feeling well and is keen to know what has been achieved so we now need to organise a private PET scan for her.

Our initial funding target allowed Tara to receive treatment in Germany, we are now raising further funds for her to have a PET scan and to continue her treatment plan. We are so grateful for every donation and sharing of this page. Since her diagnosis, Tara has become an auntie twice to a gorgeous niece and nephew and has so much to live for and to give, both personally and in the world of work, when she is able to get back to it. We are so proud of Tara and have no doubt she will fully heal from her Lymphoma.

If you are able and feel moved to give to our appeal, we would be extremely grateful for each and every donation we receive.

With gratitude
