After many years of serving those less fortunate first in Vancouver's infamous Downtown Eastside and then in frigid but adventersome Yellowknife, NWT - I've now decided to pursue a long-held dream and become a professional beekeeper. I'm trading in my career of taking care of vulnerable people for the buzz of taking care of the bees who are in peril and need our help!
With all the incredicle need out there in a world filled with pain and suffering, it's difficult for me to ask for help. But one thing taking care of the bees is teaching me is that we cannot accomplish anything meaningful and lasting on our own. We all need help from time to time. And so I'm asking for your help if you can and are willing.
My dream is to one day start my own Apiary and socially responsible business called The Bee Collaborative (working title) because everything I have observed thus far in the hive cannot be achieved without meaningful collaboration.
It is this concept and idea that has prompted me to extend this opportunity to those of you who have been so supportive and have been following along in my journey to partner with me in my adventure of returning to school. I'm not eligible to receive funding via government supported student loans so my hope is to try and begin my 2.0 twilight career without having crippling debt to overcome at the outset.
All money raised will go toward the cost of my tuition while I attend Niagra College's Commercial Beekeeping Program beginning in January 2018.
