Tana’s Brain Cancer Journey

In June of 2021, as Tana was catching for her oldest son, she took a baseball to the face. Out of precautionary measures, she went to the doctor to make sure no bones were broken in her face. Upon reviewing the scan, a tumor was spotted and that’s when our life turned upside down. July 2021, Tana had her first surgery and started chemo and a 6 week round of radiation. In September of 2022, Tana was told the cancer was gone and moved from 3 month check ups to 6 month check ups. March 30, 2023 Tana was at a regular check up when she got the devastating news that her tumor was back and had grown. She decided to move her care to MDAnderson in Houston. Within a week of her first appointment she was informed she would be having surgery. The surgery was done on May 12th. Since having surgery, Tana has had to go to Houston every week to have follow up appointments. Due to complications, she was flown to Houston where she spent a night in the ICU. She will be traveling to Houston for radiation and chemo for at least 3 weeks. Unfortunately, no housing is available at such a short notice. Tana will be staying in a hotel for the three+ week. Even with a medical discount, the hotel room is over $100. Tana has been so blessed in the community already with her being out of work since the end of April, which is why we have never felt the need for this but after several request from people asking us the create one, we have finally given in. If you know Tana, you know she would never ask for help but will be the first to help anyone. She is a single mom of three kids. She doesn’t sit still for long and hates missing anything her kids are involved in so this last month has been a challenge as she can’t be left alone for a long time due to her being at risk for falling. God is in control and we are trusting him. All we ask for is prayers for comfort and the growth of the tumor to slow down.
