Friends, We are reaching out to you on behalf of our dear, sweet friend, Tammie Smith. As many of you know, Tammie has been in the hospital going on two months after surgery. She has been back and forth between hospitals as is currently in ICU in Lexington. Due to the complications of her Crones Disease and multiple bowel obstructs, coupled with the surgery and infection, she has lost a significant amount of weight. She is unable to eat solid foods and as a result, is extremely weak. Through all of this, her 19 year old daughter, Danielle has been by her side and has lost her job as she has been traveling back and forth between hospitals and home to take care for the family pets and hold down the household in her mother’s absence. Those of you whom have grown close to Tammie know what an amazing friend and mother she is, not to mention an animal lover. She’s alway there to talk or listen, when you’re having a bad day. She’s funny and feisty and would lay down her own life for that of any child in danger. She needs our help during this difficult time, especially since we have no idea when she will be healthy enough to be released from the hospital. Any amount helps, but please don’t feel bad if all you can offer is kind words. She would not want to put anyone out. God bless each of you and please keep our sweet friend in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!

UPDATE: My mother is still in the hospital, and she has been for two months. It looks like she will be hospitalized for longer than expected. She has been denied rehabilitation services through her insurance, even though she cannot currently walk, let alone stand. She has lost roughly 42 lbs within three weeks, which has been the cause of her not being able to walk. Thursday, December 12th, her blood pressure bottomed out again to somewhere within the 60/40 range. A team of around 8 doctors and nurses were in her room with her that night trying to stabilize her. They could not get a pulse on her. Finally, after three bags of IV fluids and keeping her lying flat on her back for the whole night, they were able to get her stabilized and prevented her from going back to the ICU. She has battled Crohn's disease for 10 years, but this time has been the worst by far. I have not been able to work during this period because I've had to travel to and from the hospitals for the past two months. To those who have donated, know that it is very much appreciated, and so are the thoughts and prayers for my mother. Please continue to pray for her. Thank you.
