Tamdem Bike for Amanda

My name is Maria and I am the mom to Amanda. I am legally blind and unable to drive. However, I am able to ride a bike. Amanda (19) is intellectually disabled and unable to ride a bike. She also has difficulty walking long distance.
For the last several years we have grown increasingly frustrated over the inability to just "get up and go". Often, we are stuck in the house. this is especially true during the summer months when Amanda is out of school. Taking the bus is not always an option. We have often joked that we should buy one of those bike taxis that we see around town. Amanda has been on them before and loves them.
And then I found this bike and thought, "this is what we need!"

I can just picture us cruising around town, riding through the park, going out for a treat, riding bikes with friends and family... The adventures are limitless! I cannot wait to take pictures of Amanda laughing and smiling from ear to ear. As her mom, I cannot wait to be able to offer that to her and experience that joy.
I would be dishonest if I did not mention the benefit to me. I often feel sad that she cannot experience life to the fullest simply because her mom is legally blind. The guilt and frustration can be overwhelming at times. Simply put, this bike would represent freedom for me. To no longer feel trapped would be revitalizing for my soul.
