As of today, September 28, 2025, I have found out my childhood pet of ten years has heart failure. I was the first to report his heavy but quick breathing to my family. We asked many of our veterinarian friends and did research. At the time, it seemed that it could have been a heating issue due to living in a very hot state. So we’ve been cooling him down as much as we could, yet the breathing continued and almost worsened. It was about the third day we determined this was most definitely more of a serious problem. We rushed over to the urgent pet care, and that is when we were given the news our chihuahua Pomeranian is suffering from the early stages of heart failure. This was a shock to me and my whole family and the most disheartening news we’ve all feared to come. I’ve cried with my mother more than I could count; just alone seeing him having such a difficult time breathing was heartbreaking in itself. It breaks my heart over and over again not knowing just how much he could be suffering. As of tonight, September 28, he is staying overnight with urgent pet care in an oxygen tank. After a long while waiting, we were able to see him one last time before leaving. My mother and I broke down once again seeing him so confused, scared, cold, and I’m sure even traumatized seeing all the other dogs be rushed to treatment. My heart hurts heavy for my baby. I am in my senior year; he has been with me since the second grade. We’ve watched each other grow up, and my boys were always the ones who were there through every one of my moments. It hurts a lot facing the possibility that my baby might not even be able to see me graduate my last year. I would do anything just for an hour, week, month, any amount of time to just be with him right now.
My family, even before this whole thing, has struggled to make ends meet every month. My mama is a single mother of three living in one of the most expensive US states. It’s always been extremely difficult, especially after we’ve escaped an abusive household. My mother doesn’t have anyone to depend on any longer. We don’t want our baby to go just yet, but we are terrified if we will be able to pay off the pet care bills. I wouldn’t be fighting this hard for Tails if it weren’t for the fact I don’t believe it is truly his time. I truly believe in putting your pet's well-being first; putting them down should be the number one option if they are suffering. However, I truly believe our baby has a chance. Despite what he’s battling, he’s still his active self; he’s just as loving, energetic, and adventurous as his true nature is. I truly don’t believe it’s his time, and I want to fight for him until we do notice he is truly not getting any better.
A few cents, a dollar, anything just helps out so incredibly much. I hold a lot of guilt relying on a bunch of people who I understand have their own things going on in their own lives. But I beg of you, please, if you have any amount you’d be willing to donate to help me save my baby’s life, I will forever hold appreciation and love towards every one of you who donated. Even just reading this, spreading this GoFundMe, sending your prayers, I can’t thank anyone who truly cares enough to visit this enough. Please help me save my boy’s life. My biggest wish is for him to see my younger sisters grow, see me graduate, have more days to give his brother Leon all his love, and just to cuddle him many more nights.
