Taiko Mitzi Garnett
Mitzi Garnett is one of the most giving people I've ever known. She always puts others first. This time, we need to put her first. She has been diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Breast Cancer. We're asking for financial help so that Mitzi can take time off of work and heal. This is a major surgery event and we are planning to make her as comfortable as possible during this time.
HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING:
Mitzi has been diagnosed with Stage 2 invasive breast cancer, requiring a double mastectomy scheduled for September 17th, 2018. Mitzi will need to be out of work to focus on the surgery and her healing.
HERE'S THE PLAN:
Mitzi has been experiencing multiple doctors appointments and having to travel over 2-hours each way to Fairfield, CA often. She will go into surgery September 17th, 2018. She will be in the hospital for 2-3 days, and then return home. She will then be required to heal for a minimum of 4 weeks, and then begin the reconstruction process that will take up to a year, and potentially radiation and/or chemotherapy.
THE NEED:
We are heading up a fundraising effort to ease Mitzi's heart and mind while she takes time off from work and recovers. In addition, Mitzi has medical bills piling up. Needless to say, we have a friend in need, and I know that she has created an incredible community of loving friends who will help her in her hour of need.

WHO'S RAISING THE FUNDS?
My name is Tamra Fleming. I've been a very good friend of Mitzi's for 26+ years. I am the Godmother to her son, Jake, and was her birth coach bringing him into the world. I will be coming down from Montana to be with her the day of the surgery and post surgery coordinating people, food and helping her heal.
HOW THE MONEY WILL HELP AND BE USED:
When you're ill, the last thing you want to worry about is money. The money will go directly to her living expenses, travel to and from the hospital and doctors, recovery supplies, additional medical bills and any other unforseen expenses related to her healing.
HOW THE MONEY WILL BE WITHDRAWN:
Mitzi is the direct beneficiary of this fund and we are managing the budget to help her pay the above costs.
URGENCY:
This is urgent, as Mitzi will need to be out of work beginning the first part of September, 2018. Since Mitzi is a sole-provider of a small family, not raising these funds will greatly impact her life, as well as her family's life. Our goal is to raise at least $5,000, as quickly as possible to give Mitzi some peace as she goes into surgery.
