Taha's Journey Through Autism

Donation protected
This is Taha's story.
This is a story about our son Taha. He is a vibrant and amazing four-year-old boy, who has Autism.

Autism is a developmental disorder that presented itself in Taha at a very early age. Autism is characterized by difficulty in communication, learning disabilities, speech delay and difficulty in social interactions. Since being diagnosed Taha has had significant regression in his speech development, maintaining his attention span, poor eye contact and little social skills with peers his age.

At the age of 2, in January 2016, Taha was diagnosed with Moderate to Severe range in Autism Spectrum Disorder. However, in a letter to the government agency, which provides funding for therapy, sent by Taha’s doctor, she stated the form of Autism being moderate only, and not moderate to severe.

Due to this oversight Taha was not deemed eligible for IBI (Intensive Behavioural Intervention) Therapy and was not placed on IBI funding waitlist.

Once we became aware of this mistake on the letter that the doctor sent to government agency, we have been working to amend this error. We put Taha on the waitlist effective the date he was diagnosed.

Now Taha, our son, is 10 months behind due to a mistake made by the doctor and the government agency. The government agency will not back track his name on the wait list to the date he was diagnosed. We are very frustrated, we have followed the system to get our son the help he needs but the system has failed him and us. Now Taha has to suffer because of a mistake someone else has made, leaving us feeling helpless. We contacted the Government agency and the doctor who diagnosed him and they told us there is nothing they can do. They have also told us the wait for IBI funding which can take around 2 years.

Since Taha is now behind on the waitlist, we are desperate for assistance to get him the IBI therapy he needs. We are in no financial position to pay for his therapy on our own, Until we receive the funding from our Government assistance, we need your help and support in this matter.

We are very appreciative of any contribution you could help us with that would allow Taha to continue with his education and give him the chance to further develop his skills.  He is already 10 months behind in his treatment plan and we do not want any more delays. Based on the recommendations from professionals, Taha can improve a great deal if he receives therapy now in the early stages of his development rather then waiting 2 years time. If you could please kindly help us during this difficult time, we would appreciate  tremendously.

Thank you,
