My name is Dawn and I am putting together this gofundme page in honor of the Tadeson Family. I have known this family for 4 years and they are the most caring, compassionate and loving family. I took on this challenge for them as they go through a very hard time in their lives. I hope to show them the love and support they can recieve from family, friends and the community they live in.
This past September their son was diagnosed with PANDAS. Not to be confused with the black and white bears you may see at the zoo, this is an entirely different animal. PANDAS, is an acronym for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcus. The disorder wreaks havoc on the unfortunate child who delelops it and their unsuspecting families. PANDAS is a physical disorder with mental symptoms. This disorder dramatically attacks the child literally overnight resulting in sudden terror, significant regression in behavior, and the worst anxiety imaginable. So much so that you don't even recongnize your own child. The child does not know what has 'hit' him, and so is rightfully in a state of panic. The symptoms are so sudden and dramatic that the parents are left with paralyzing fear themselves. The entire family is affected by this disorder. Parents are deeply affected and some develop post-traumatic stress disorder. Their jobs may be affected, as work attendance may suffer. It is difficult to talk about what's going on with other family members, friends, and co-workers. Without treatment, these kids will likely end up homebound, institutionlized and worse yet, there is the possibility of suicide and drug/alcohol addiction.
This gofundme page is for the Tadeson family. They have found a specialist in Edmonton. Dr Lyle McGonigle is going to be administering this treatment, as it is not offered in Ontario. Due to this being a huge financial hit on the family, I hope to raise as much as I can to help with hotels, flights and treatment for their son. We all pray that he will only need one treatment, but he may need two.
