Taco's Surgery Fund

Donation protected
My connection with Taco, started the first day I met her. She bulldozed me over with hugs and kisses and at that moment I knew she was a dog I wanted in my life. Even after attempts to persuade her owner to let me "keep her" I had to compromise with seeing this beautiful girl daily and even taking care of her when her owners were out of town.  There are not enough words to describe how important she is to me. She is at the prime of her life, full of energy.

Taco, also known as "Rita" was a rescue and found her way to her mom and dad, Danielle & Jake, via a friend, who was moving and could not bring her. After meeting her, they took Taco home that same night. I see how Danielle and Jake care for their animals and the way they interact with Taco is incredibly moving. You can tell Taco is their world, and they would do everything for her.  I am so lucky to know them, which makes writing this next part so difficult.

About 12 hours ago,  we were out on our last stroll of the night when Taco heard a noise that spooked her and caused her to break away from her leash, running to the safety of her home. Unfortunately, her home was across a busy street and as she sped through the traffic, she collided with the back end of a van, putting her in critical conditon with internal bleeding, a collapsed lung, and a severely shattered leg.

Thankfully, her heart rate stabilized due to a blood transfusion, her internal bleeding clotted on its own, and her lung was able to inflate.

As she is recovering , the next step for Taco is surgery on her back leg. The leg suffered the most damage as the ligaments were torn and the bone fragmented into multiple pieces, possibly requiring a metal plate to help her walk again.

This girl is fighter, and I am confident she will pull through, but on behalf of her and her parents , I am here asking for help. Taco's expenses are high. The bills alone, excluding the surgery will be around $8500. Afterwards, she will need equipment and medication to help her adjust to her situation as her leg continues to heal.

Please give what you can, anything helps. I do undersand, each of us have our own tough journeys we go through, and if you are unable to donate,  please share Taco's story with your friends, families, everyone.

Thank you!
