Greetings! We are the TACLE 4 class at Oakland High School. TACLE stands for "Technology and Augmentative Communications for Learning Enhancement," so in our classroom, we use electronic devices to help us talk.
We are overwhelmed, and so grateful, for your help funding our class. Your contributions will help us with:
Our monarch butterfly project! We have a lovely little butterfly garden outside our classroom door where we raise milkweed and other plants for our beloved pollinators. Here is a link to our Monarch website! This fall we released 30 monarchs that we raised from eggs and caterpillars. We would love to increase that number when the monarchs return this spring. Your contributions will help us buy plants, soil, and gardening tools.
Field trips! We go out into the community every Friday to build our life skills. Most of the time we travel by AC Transit, and their drivers are always very helpful and kind. But our city buses can carry only two wheelchairs at a time, and now we have the flexibility to arrange alternative transportation for special trips. Thanks to you, we also have a little extra cash for such activities as bowling and admission to museums and the zoo. Have we told you lately that we love you?
Cooking classes! We've been learning how to make yummy organic vegetable dishes, healthy baked goods, and simple meals. Some of our students are severely underweight, so nutrition lessons are vital to their life goals. And how much do we love youse? Now we can order a few new, non-teflon, unwarped, 21st-century pots and pans!
