Tabitha Young was a 53-year-old single mother of two boys originally from the Bahamas. Tabitha had been spending the holidays with her children and her dear mother visiting from the Bahamas when she suffered a medical emergency and was hospitalized. After a hard-fought battle, she sadly succumbed to complications of her stroke. Before departing this world she blessed several families with the gift of life through organ donation. Tabitha leaves behind a grieving mother Dianne, and two sons Tyler, 12, and Trenton, 17. This tragedy hits especially hard for Tyler who celebrates his 13th birthday on January 11 and Trenton, a high school senior, is preparing for college in the fall.
Tabitha was a veteran Miami Dade County public school administrator and was the Assistant Principal at Educational Alternative Outreach Program. She was also a doctoral candidate preparing to defend her dissertation.
Funds will go primarily towards family expenses and educational funds for her sons.
