Dear family and friends, I am reaching out to you seek‐
ing any assistance you can provide as we try to keep
up with my mum's hospital bills. Over the past 2 years,
my mum has been suffering from 2 serious conditions
that have only recently been diagnosed properly.

The first is what is known as Venous Ulcers.
These are open wounds that do not heal because of poor cir‐
circulation in the legs. She has two of them(one on
each leg) The pain from these wounds had gotten so
unbearable to the point mum could not sleep. Over the
last year, the infected areas have continued to spread.

The second diagnosis is Severe Degenerative
Scoliosis. This has been developing over time and
has caused a certain degree of curvature of the spine,
making it extremely hard and painful for her to stand
and walk without a lot of help. This condition has also been made worse by a couple of falls over the past year.

Due to the overall pain and discomfort, mum was in,
she hadn't left the house in over a year.

About a month ago, we managed to get her in to see 2
specialists to examine her.
Dr. Stanley Khainga (Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi Kenya) for the
wounds on her legs.
Dr. Soren Otieno (Spinal Injury Hospital, Nairobi Kenya) for her back.

Course of Treatment
For her back, we decided to take the conservative route
which involves intense Physical Therapy sessions 3
times a week at the Spinal Injury Hospital..with surgery being the last option.

For her legs, she has to get the wounds cleaned
and dressed at least 2 times a week depending on
the amount of discharge.

Mum is responding well to treatment and physical
therapy. She is a fighter, and with the continued
support and prayers from friends and family, we
believe she will get better.

Due to various circumstances, the financial
responsibility has fallen solely on me. It is a daunting
task for one person, so any assistance I can get, big or
small, will be highly appreciated.

The cost has been about $800 per week to cover
the hospital visits.
My goal is to cover at least 8 months of continuous
treatment ($25600),before re-evaluating her condition
and progress to determine what happens next.

If you have any questions, or if you just want
updates on how she is doing, please feel free
to reach out to me.
