Tabitha and the Hyun Family Walk Through Leukemia

From Dan Hyun: "On April 16th, we learned the startling news that our dear 9 year old Tabitha Hyun was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  Doctors believe it was probably related in some way to the year of immune system challenges Tabitha has been facing.  It is a more common diagnosis and the prognosis for recovery looks relatively hopeful.  We welcome you to join the Hyun family in the fight.  Tabitha is currently undergoing her first round of chemotherapy at home but has had intermittent hospitalizations and the medical bills and accompanying expenses are likely to add up quickly.  The treatment plan for Tabitha will last two years and will be an uphill battle".  
 
Judie Hyun, Tabitha's Mom writes, "I don’t have any words. I’ve been between disbelief, denial, anger, weeping, and sleeplessness among other things- and it’s been difficult to think straight. And COVID-19 adds another layer of isolation and a source of worry on top of all of leukemia.

Tabitha, on the other hand, has been a trooper. She started chemotherapy yesterday.   Although she has told me that she is scared and is already sad about the anticipated loss of her hair, she is taking on each new day with her characteristic spunk. We never thought we would be in this place so soon after January.  We never thought that cancer would be a part of Tabitha's childhood story.  Yet here we are"
