The Misadventures of Tabbyhound

Donation protected

The Misadventures of Tabbyhound
is a 10 minute comedy about a 3-piece punk band, named Tabbyhound, that's trying to get to the next venue with limited resources and limited time. During their misadventure, what seemed like an easy journey becomes anything but. From a car crash with a desert drifter, to a helping hand from a cat-serial killer, to allergic reactions, this comedy is filled with unexpected misadventures. Think of it like Superbad meets The Big Lebowski.

STORYBOARD CONCEPTS:

The moment when they hit a desert drifter and a water bottle filled with pee flies through their van...

...and covers Nicolas, their drummer.

Some of the initial storyboarding. In this moment, Eric, the hot head, decides to vandalize a car. This decision is the beginning of the end for Tabbyhound.

Some rough blocking and storyboarding created with the director and cinematographer!

p.s. This is why we make films instead of draw :)

We are a group of students
at San Diego State University working on our senior thesis film. This is the final project we get to make before graduation and will be the last addition to our portfolio as we launch our careers as filmmakers over the next year.

We need your help with the costs of this project. Plain and simple, making a great film isn't cheep. Every group member is already donating as much as we can afford. We are pinching pennies everywhere to keep the budget low, but we are turning to you for extra support. Every dime of your donation will be used in the smartest possible way.

Why do we need $3,000? Great question. This is actually still a very low budget film. Here is a simple breakdown of what the money will be used for:

1) Casting great actors who are part of the Screen Actors Guild requires that we pay at least $125/day according to the student-film contract.

2) Renting quality gear
is essential to get a high-quality film that will last for years to come. This is where the majority of the budget will be spent on things like renting an URSA Mini 4.6K + lenses, various lights needed for scenes, and insurance to cover everything.

3) Feeding cast and crew is expensive. We are shooting all day which means 2 meals per day for 3 days of shooting with a cast & crew upwards of 20 people.

4) Submitting to festivals is not free. There is a $50+ application fee for submissions to each festival we want showcase the film at. Festivals are critical in getting the film in front of the right people.
